Tlingit & Haida is now accepting applications for the Rescue Small Business Relief Startup Grant program. Tribal citizens who are starting or have started a new small business in 2023 and have or may change careers due to the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic are eligible to apply for up to $2,500. A total of 100 startup small business relief grants will be awarded and all applications will be processed in the order received. Tribal citizens who previously received a Rescue Small Business grant from Tlingit & Haida are not eligible to apply.

Funds must be expended in compliance with federal law and used by the applicant only to pay for startup business related expenses and or products to mitigate COVID-19.

Only those eligible expenses incurred after January 1, 2023, or reasonably expected to be incurred by December 29, 2023, are eligible. Applicants are required to follow the Purpose of Funds guidelines in the application.

Maximum Number of Applications: 100

Maximum Funding Amount: $2,500

Who Can Apply:

All enrolled tribal citizens, regardless of where they reside in the United States are eligible to apply.

Eligibility Requirements:

Must be a tribal citizen of Tlingit & Haida at the time of application
Must be 18 years of age or older and able to file own tax return. Minors are not eligible to apply.
Must be a U.S. citizen
Must have a state business license issued after January 1, 2023
The Individual applicant must be 50% owner of the small business
Must complete on online application
Business must be actively managed by tribal citizen
Non-Artist Applicants: Must complete Spruce Root’s Business Basic online course
Artist Applicants: Must complete Spruce Root's Business Basic online course for artists

How to Apply:

Complete the online or printed application
Printed applications can be:
1. Emailed (preferred) to RescueSBG@ccthita-nsn.gov
2. Faxed to 907.802.6272

Application Requirements:

Must provide legible and valid business receipts, quote or shopping cart dated between January 1- December 29, 2023.
Only one application per citizen will be accepted.
Applications will be closed after 30 days of no response from applicant.

Notice: This ARPA Rescue Small Business Relief Startup grant is taxable income. Businesses are advised to contact their accountants or tax preparers on how this will affect their tax returns.
